Lazarus Raised From the Dead

Jesus enters the grief of Bethany, stands before the tomb, and reveals His authority over death itself.

Lazarus Becomes Sick

Lazarus lived in Bethany with his sisters, Mary and Martha. When he became seriously ill, they sent word to Jesus.

Jesus Arrives at Bethany

By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. Martha went out to meet Him.

Mary and the mourners were weeping. Jesus was deeply moved and shared their grief.

Why This Moment Matters

The raising of Lazarus reveals both the compassion and authority of Jesus. He wept with those who grieved, yet He also stood before death and commanded it to release its hold.

Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. When he came out still wrapped in graveclothes, Jesus said, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Many who witnessed what happened believed in Jesus.
