Pursuing God's Presence

The Heart of God from Genesis to Revelation

Discovering God's eternal desire to dwell among His people and restore what was lost in Eden.

Before there was sin, before there was sacrifice, before there was religion, there was relationship.

The Bible opens with a Creator walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Humanity was not created merely to exist upon the earth. Mankind was created for fellowship with God.

From Genesis to Revelation, one theme appears again and again: God desires to dwell among His people.

Eden: God's Original Design

God created man in His image. Adam was not created for religious activity. He was created for relationship.

The Garden was more than paradise. It was the place where God and man walked together. The presence of God was not distant, hidden, or occasional. It was the normal atmosphere of life.

The Great Separation

When sin entered the world, relationship was broken. Adam and Eve hid from the presence of the Lord, and mankind was driven from the Garden.

Yet even after the Fall, God did not abandon His desire. The rest of Scripture reveals God's plan to restore what was lost.

God's Pursuit Begins

Through Noah, God preserved humanity. Through Abraham, God established covenant. Through Moses, God delivered Israel and gave the Tabernacle. Through the prophets, God continually called His people back to Himself.

These were not disconnected events. They were part of one unfolding story: God pursuing relationship with mankind.

The Tabernacle and the Temple

When God instructed Moses to build the Tabernacle, He revealed the purpose clearly:

“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”
Exodus 25:8 NKJV

The structure was not the ultimate goal. The presence of God was the goal.

David and the Presence of God

King David discovered something extraordinary. While others saw ritual, David saw relationship. While others focused on ceremony, David longed for God's presence.

This hunger led David to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and establish one of the most remarkable worship ministries recorded in Scripture.

Jesus: The Son of David

Jesus did not come randomly into history. Scripture repeatedly identifies Him as the Son of David.

Through Jesus Christ, God restored access to the Father. What was lost in Eden began to be restored through the finished work of Christ.

The Church Today

The Church was never intended to merely gather, sing, and leave unchanged. The Church is called to become the dwelling place of God through His Spirit.

Worship is not simply music. Worship is a response to the God who desires relationship with His people.

From Eden to Eternity

The Bible ends where it began: with God dwelling among His people.

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them.”
Revelation 21:3 NKJV

The story of Scripture is the story of a Father seeking a family, a King seeking a kingdom, and a God seeking a dwelling place among His people.
